DIRECTIONS This trip requires a 1½-hour car shuttle between the Mojave Forks Dam and Polique Canyon Rd.

Arrange for a vehicle at the west end of this hike where the PCT crosses Highway 173 near the Mojave Forks Dam. You can reach it from Interstate 15 at Exit 131 by driving east on Highway 138 for 8.6 miles, then turning left on Highway 173 and following it 7.5 miles to the signed PCT crossing, 0.6 mile east of Arrowhead Lake Rd.

To reach the east end of the hike, drive west 0.6 mile, then turn right (north) on Arrowhead Lake Rd. In 5.7 miles, turn right (east) on Rock Springs Rd. In 2.8 miles, the road becomes Roundup Way. Continue east another 2.0 miles, then turn left (north) on Central Rd. In 3.5 miles, turn right (east) on Bear Valley Rd. In 2.7 miles, turn right on Highway 18. Proceed 10.6 miles to the junction with Highway 247. Turn right at the junction to stay on Highway 18, and continue 19.7 miles up to Big Bear City. When the highway turns left (south), continue 5.5 miles west on North Shore Dr. (Highway 38), then turn right onto Polique Canyon Rd. (Forest Road 2N09) at mile marker 038 SBD 54.04. Proceed 2.3 miles to the top of the ridge, where you will see the signed Holcomb View Trail. Limited parking is available along the side of the road just beyond.

PERMIT Forest Adventure Pass required at Polique Canyon Rd.

OTHER POINTS OF INTEREST Camping is available at Mojave River Forks Campground near the western trailhead. Extensive camping and lodging is available in the Big Bear area, including at Serrano Campground on Highway 38 just east of Polique Canyon Rd.
